How to Take the Course

All of the pages have a minimum set time that you must spend studying the material. The total time required to complete the course is 3 hours. You can take as long as you want, but you must spend a minimum of 3 hours, including the time spent taking the tests. Also, if a page is idle for 30 minutes, you will be directed back to the log in screen.

To receive your Virginia Boating Certificate, you must complete chapters 3 through 9 and pass the 7 chapter tests. You cannot go to the next chapter unless you score at least 90% on the current chapter test. If you do not pass the test, you will be directed to the beginning of the chapter to study the material again.

Once you have completed all 7 of the chapter tests, you will be able to print your temporary certificate. Your permanent documents will be mailed to you.

On the next page, you will be asked to log in or register. Please register if you have not already done so. Your progress through the course will be recorded. Make sure to bookmark this page so you can return, log in, and resume where you left off.

By registering, you certify that you are the person whose name is represented on the examinations and all answers are given as a representation of your knowledge of the material provided in this Boating Basics Safety Course.
